 With Thembani Dube

Agenda4Action continues to interact with the political and non-political movers and shakers in Mthwakazi. Our guest to grace this programme today is Mthwakazi Liberation Front’s new Acting Spokesperson, Chrispen Nyoni. A number of questions have been put to Nyoni (CN) regarding his appointment to the post and regarding the Mthwakazi Restoration Agenda and the state of the Movement at present. We took the opportunity to congratulate him as the newly appointed Acting Spokesperson of the Mthwakazi Liberation Front and below is a question and answer dialogue I had with him.

TD: Mr Nyoni congratulations on your appointment as MLF Spokesperson.

CN: Thank you very much, Mr Dube. I have the pleasure to be the stand in Spokesperson of MLF. I am babysitting the position for now until such time when the front is settled from the internal commotion that had set in. Otherwise, I am home with being Spokesperson for this RESTORATIONIST Movement.

TD: Being a Spokesperson of an organization is definitely a Hot-Seat role where one is meant to articulate the position of the Movement clearly without putting the Movement into public disrepute by making statements that are not the position of the Movement as officially has been said. How are you going to guard against such fatalist tendencies?

CN: The art of being the Spokesperson carry with it certain attributes such as discipline, integrity, unquestionable knowledge of the Movement's integral guiding objectives and any-body politics of the Movement. Being at the helm at the moment, my mission as a deployee of the RESTORATIONIST movement is very clear, that is to guard the Movement from any public disrepute by giving out statements that are not quitter. Not to guard the Movement from the fatalistic tendencies of letting off information into the public domain, is treacherous, and that should be controlled by fostering consultation of all the necessary organs of the Movement at all times.

Statements released into the public domain must be ones that have been waived to be in line with the Movement’s policy. On the same, the media also has a role in scrutinizing the authenticity of the information that it receives before publishing it. Such scrutiny, assist in unmasking instances and situations of bogus journalism, where certain so-called interviews are conducted and published by faceless characters with no authenticity at all.

As the acting Spokesperson, I believe in the altar of authenticity of information relayed to the public as it will restore the public’s confidence in the movement there-by re-aligning the perceptions that would have wondered off. Like any Movement or organisation, MLF is going through its most difficult and turbulent period. It is important however to note that it is through the recognition of weaknesses that any organisation and Movement adopts corrective mechanisms aimed at strengthening its resolve.

TD:  Sometimes communication of important matters of the organization need to have a clear centre of source of information and not a haphazard form of communication we have seen in the past sent from various emails. How are you going to deal with this issue in order to avoid confusion and to give the MLF message substance and authenticity? Will there be a clear communication policy and clear sources of information with clear names of people disseminating that information?

CN: With regards to communication of matters of the Movement, that orbits around the Office of Information and Publicity which regulates what is of public consumption and what is not. On a policy focal point of view, MLF controls the outflow of information as well as the inflow. From now on, no information should be regarded as authentic unless it comes through the information department of the movement unless a scene is reminiscent of what befell our former leader, Gen Nandinandi, revisits, then that will be a different story which may call the office of the Presidency to draft a statement in accordance with the dictates of the matter to be decoded to the public.
So MLF will get stronger by the day through correcting the mistakes of the past. It will not be business as usual; from now going forward that the spokesperson of this important Movement employs fake mechanisms to advance their own personal populist tendencies at the expense of the peoples’ Movement. One cannot become a referee and player at the same time as that alone militates against the rules of the game. Likewise the collective in any organisation or Movement always plays an oversight role, solely to guard against the pursuit of tendencies that are damaging to its image and survival as an entity.

TD:  What is then your message to the media if it gets MLF information from anonymous characters using MLF as an email account to disseminate that information? Should the media publish such information?

CN: I stand reliably informed that there has been a sustained attempt to have certain information published by all media under the auspices of MLF Info and Publicity. This should be shunned by all media outlets. We will be happy if we are consulted on that and furnished on the originators of the unofficial information, then we, as MLF will take it from there. This is the time to run the Info and Publicity as a professional marketing unit of the movement.

TD: Has MLF been weakened by the  Magagula-gate issue?

CN: The loss of any MLF member, through death or otherwise, is a loss worth taking note of and when that has happened, any Movement cannot stop functioning as if its survival depended on the departed. It must get up and move on viciously in an objective manner as before. So MLF will move on with its spirited quest for RESTORATION of Mthwakazi at all cost.

TD: What do you say to those calling for war for the Restoration of Matebeleland?  Is this feasible in the current environment in SADC?

CN: Those calling for war must start such a war themselves. Such voices will not be tolerated within the MLF as they do not constitute any of its policies and principles. For all we care such voices can make all the noise until they burst. The MLF is not guided by such meaningless calls, neither is it guided by some whatsapp or Facebook group chats used to spew that rhetoric of combat. Rather it is guided by history, where hundreds of thousands of gallant Mthwakazians died literally for nothing, but to become slaves in their own country of birth, where they continue to be denied any form of survival as well as being banished into exile where like any stateless people they have to perpetually survive without an identity, with the lucky ones forced to assume any kind of identity simply to survive.

For the record, MLF has nothing whatsoever that states firmly that we shall RESTORE Mthwakazi through the barrel of a gun. What we all agreed to was that we will use all RESTORATION strategies at our disposal that are universally acceptable. Being taken by the mantra of popularism of the dilemma laden philosophy of declaring war on Zimbabwe is not only suicidal, but denialism of the right to think objectively.

One may also asset that those calling for war now before intensive engagements, are just overcome by anger. It must also be understood that RESTORATION to MLF, doesn't mean revenge but the ushering in of everlasting peace and harmony between the two historical neighbours. This will ease the ever growing tension between the two and greatly reduce the unnecessary budget on the part of Zimbabwe in policing and subduing Mthwakazi while on the other hand it will promote security, healing, peace and prosperity, facets which have eluded Mthwakazi since 1893. We hope the occupying forces and the region could understand MLF from this perspective.

It must be considered that there are serious important processes to go through before considering the war which is very costly and unenviable.  It’s through dialogue and other means with Zimbabwe and SADC that the final decision shall be reached and as I speak we have started on the mentioned routes and strongly hope they will yield the desired results.

TD: The public would like to know a bit about the new Spokesperson of MLF. So who is Chrispen Nyoni?

CN: Chrispen Nyoni is a disciplined member of the MLF who has been with this historic Movement from inception, and a dedicated and committed cadre who will always project the policy directives of the movement at all times without fear or favour.

TD: Thank you. So how can people contact you and MFL for updates?

CN: I can be contacted on:

TD:  We thank you Mr Nyoni for giving us the chance to interact with you on Agenda4Action. We wish you well in your new appointment.

CN: It is the Movement that is thankful. Long may the Restoration Agenda for Mthwakazi continue. Every patriotic Mthwakazi citizen must be seized with the need to move the Agenda forward in a peaceful manner to Restore our state and free our people from all forms of oppression from Zimbabwe.
